VINEYARD: Pietramarina.
VARIETY: Nerello Mascalese.
SOIL TYPE: Soils have perfect exposure and lie, black from lava sands, and therefore extraordinarily rich in minerals; around woods and more recent lava flows.
ALTIMETRY: 510 m above sea level.
TRAINING SYSTEM: spurred cordon.
PLANTING DENSITY: 5,000 plants per hectare.
TIME OF HARVEST: October 15-25.
ORGANOLEPTIC NOTES: Vanilla, black cherry, wild strawberry, a very clean floral touch. Fleshy yet flowing mouthfeel. Very expressive fruit with more complex aromatic forays of underbrush, myrtle and oriental spices. A wine that unexpectedly transforms into a sample of a drinkable red with marked savoriness with a flavor profile that brings out an irony, rhubarb and black pepper trace that is very engaging.
PAIRING: A wine to drink at the table every day. Its gastronomic pliability allows it to stand alongside both simpler dishes, such as a pasta with tomato sauce, and more complex meat and fish dishes.
